Dad was more excited than he had any right to be, which he chose to manifest in the form of excessive attention paid to me. I stepped into the house and he swooped down upon me in the terrifying way that he has, all hugs and smiles and inquires about my day. I slipped off as fast as I could, escaping into the sanctuary of my room where I could think about the looming problem logically. On a normal day I would come home to nothing but the sound of static as my Dad tried desperately to discern the ghostly voices of departed souls on various recordings. But then she screams And fights with air As something lifts her up, Plops her down onto the floor And starts to stroke her fur. The tiger, feeling most relieved She rolls onto her back Exposing soft, white belly Flecked with small, grey spots Her captor smiles and rubs the fluff But the tiger always knows Eight pounds is just a number, And she is always tough.Fearsome
